A Public Sector Organisation is looking for a 2nd Line Desktop Support with Novell expertise. Working as part of a service support team the post holder will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of IT Support for hardware and software..Technical qualification or proven equivalent level of knowledge eg Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP), NVQ 3 or ECDL and evidence of both technical experience and continued professional development..Experience of installing, modifying or creating of computer/printer software/hardware which includes Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Office Professional. Additionally the post holder will have general knowledge of networking and TCP/IP to develop procedures for the installation and maintenance of printers and client software..Provide first and second line technical support including incident/problem identification, resolution and escalation in line with local Service Level Agreements. Assist the Senior Desktop Support Engineer/Desktop Support Team Leader with proactive root cause analysis and problem resolution. troubleshooting PC and basic network problems..Day to day Administration of existing NT4, Novell and Windows 2003 AD network..Troubleshooting day to day issues on platforms ranging from Win 95 - win XP & Office 97..Organise and prioritise own workload. Plan and manage routine repairs/upgrades to equipment within post holder remit. Ensure all major issues are escalated to Senior Desktop Support Engineer/Desktop Support Team Leader.
