Formed in 1993 by entrepreneur Robbie Cowling and his business partner John Witney, JobServe was the world's first Internet Recruitment Service.

With the country emerging from the early nineties recession, it was whilst working together as IT contractors that Robbie and John realised how difficult it was to find employment from recruitment magazines advertising out-of-date positions. Working in an environment where everybody used email, they quickly realised the potential benefit of receiving a daily digest of jobs-by-email targeted to their specific job requirements.

  • Distributing your job (where appropriate) through the Jobg8 network of partner websites comprising a unique & dynamic mix of job boards, affiliates and aggregators, thus maximising your job reach
  • Emailing your jobs to candidates subscribed with matching job seeking criteria
  • Providing a CV/resume database containing thousands of active quality job seekers
  • Promoting and raising awareness of your brand within our website through advertising banners, featured jobs, smart ads etc.


However, that is not all. We take further steps that many of our competitors do not, including:
  • Employing our Alchemy smart match technology to further identify candidates who would be suitable for your role and advising them of the opportunity
  • Proof reading every job you advertise to ensure it is correctly classified for the optimum reach, and correcting common presentation mistakes

JobServe was the world's first Internet recruitment website, first appearing online in 1994. Prior to this finding a job was much harder than it is today.

At JobServe it is our ethos to provide the best quality service that we can to our candidates. Whereas many job boards focus solely on their customers, we recognise that by attracting the best candidates and helping them successfully find jobs relevant to their skills we, in turn, provide a superior service to our advertisers.

We do many things to ensure that we make your job seeking experience as smooth and productive as it can be, including:
  • Proof reading every job to ensure that it is correctly classified, a genuine opportunity and not a generic 'trawler' position
  • Implementing intelligent matching techniques so that our search returns the best matches based upon the criteria that you have provided
  • Providing jobs-by-email subscription services, so that you may proactively receive jobs that match your requirements daily, weekly or immediately that they arise
  • We keep our job application process simple. For most of our jobs you can apply quickly and easily by simply providing your name, email and a CV
  • Employing our Alchemy smart match engine to proactively match candidates with jobs - even if the candidate's search criteria have previously missed that job
  • We provide multiple methods of receiving job notifications, such as email, RSS and SMS
