IT jobs market to remain "buoyant"

IT jobs will remain secure, despite claims that nearly 20,000 City workers will lose their jobs over the next two years, according to reports
Speaking to Computer Weekly, analyst Garter claimed that the need for "innovative" IT within the banking sector will keep the IT job market buoyant.
"Customers move banks more often than they used to, and banks need to differentiate themselves and innovate. IT is one way for them to do this," Petre Redshaw, research director at the company, added.
The publication also suggested that a skills shortage may help boost the IT industry, as IT departments within the financial sector have been understaffed "for years".
Meanwhile, a survey carried out by the Credit Show revealed that more than three-quarters of IT companies felt confident about the future of their business.
