Glasgow Easterhouse development to create 150 local jobs
09/09/2008(11:37)

A new development in Glasgow could provide up to 150 jobs when it opens.

Mayberry Properties is set to invest £4 million to build five factories on the Queenslie site in the Easterhouse area of the city.

The Glasgow Evening Times reports that 24 jobs will be created when the first factory opens, which is scheduled for summer 2009.

Across all five units, a total of 150 posts will be created, 18 of which are specifically for disabled people, according to the developers.

Robert Marshall, director of Mayberry Properties, told the newspaper: "We will be looking to fill the jobs with people from the Greater Easterhouse area where possible.

"There will have to be re-training because the work will involve operating electronics."

The new factories follow the announcement that Bilfinger Berger are set to create on extra 50 jobs on the £500 million Edinburgh Tram Project.

Positions including engineers, foremen, quantity surveyors, project managers and environmental advisors are currently available on the project.
