M&S to create 100 new jobs in Widnes

A new Marks & Spencer store has been confirmed for Widnes which will create up to 100 jobs.

The high street giant has revealed plans for the 45,000 square foot retail site in Widnes Shopping Park, which is planned to open in 2010, reports the Liverpool Echo.

All of the company's range of fashion, food and home products will be included in the new store, together with a café facility.

Claire Denning, head of regions for Marks & Spencer, told the newspaper: "It is a fantastic opportunity for us to bring the very best that M&S has to offer to many more customers in Cheshire."

Meanwhile, the Lancashire Telegraph reports that supermarket operator Morrisons has revealed plans to create up to 160 new jobs through the extension of its meat processing factory in Colne.

The company has announced that the employees will operate across two shifts.
