The development of a number of UK power stations could lead to a boost in jobs for the construction industry, it has been reported.
According to the Press Association, research by US engineering firm Westinghouse has shown that there would be a lot of work up for grabs if the new reactors were given the go-ahead.
It added that its power stations could bring some £30 million to the UK economy, through construction and supply jobs during the development phase and then from operating the plants and servicing them.
The news provider stated Dougie Rooney, national officer for Unite, also stated that 10,000 skilled jobs could be created by the development of new nuclear power stations.
Meanwhile, a report on behalf of the Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Executive recently asserted that the introduction of a congestion charge in Manchester could boost jobs in region's construction industry by as many as 5,800.
