HMRC creating customer service roles in Cumbria
10/09/2008(11:41)

A large number of customer service jobs are set to be created in a new Cumbria call centre.

The HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) contact centre in Lillyhall will create up to 350 jobs and also secure 53 jobs which will be transferred from the Whitehaven tax office.

Recruitment for the positions is currently underway and the roles involve handling telephone calls relating to self-assessment, PAYE and tax credits.

Linda Maslen, head of HMRC contact centres, said it was "good news for the region".

"I am delighted that our new site will be here in West Cumbria, and I am really looking forward to working closely with my new team to put Lillyhall Contact Centre at the forefront of providing an excellent service to our customers," she added.

It was recently confirmed that outsourcing firm Respondez is creating 100 new customer service jobs in its new Hartlepool office, ccfonline.co.uk reported.
