A lack of women in construction is 'society's fault'

The lack of women in industries like construction and engineering is a reflection of our country's culture, according to an expert.
Graduate Prospects has said that society needs to address the issue, with there being many "anomalies which we don't understand" in the employment industry.
Mike Hill, chief executive of Graduate Prospects, said: "We would like to see many more women going into engineering.
"It is a question for society to address. More women are going to university and there are more women going into the workforce."
He added that many women do not apply to work with blue-chip companies and debates whether the sales industry is seen as "macho".
Mr Hill stated that girls need to be encouraged to do science at school and "they do not dream of being engineers".
A report by the Association of Graduate Recruiters found that the number of women being recruited by leading companies fell last year, despite more women graduating from university.
