Demotivated workers 'will leave ASAP'
04/09/2008(11:34)

Workers will leave a job as soon as possible if they are "completely demotivated", according to an employment expert.

The Institute for Employment Studies (IES) has said that reasons for people looking to leave their jobs quickly includes low moral caused by discontent and apathy.

It adds that people who say they plan to leave as soon as possible are "almost certain" to actually follow through and exit the company.

Dilys Robinson, principal research fellow at the IES, added that those who say they plan to change jobs "within the next year" are less likely to leave.

"Quite often that depends on whether they achieve what they want to achieve over the next year, or they may have a long term career in mind, but that's not such a definite thing," she added.

A recent YouGov poll for the Trades Union Congress found that six million workers in the UK are not satisfied with their job.
