Scottish science community to increase jobs

Around 600 new jobs are expected to be created by the ongoing development of Edinburgh's science community.
The Scotsman reports funding from Europe is likely to attract more companies to the area and lead to an expansion of an existing sector workforce of around 3,100 people.
Figures from the Edinburgh Science Triangle (EST) show the growth is set to accelerate through to 2011.
Quoted by the paper, EST project director Barry Shafe said: "The Edinburgh Science Triangle is successful because it concentrates on attracting more investment and building the scientific community."
The EST is a partnership project between councils, universities and Scottish Enterprise.
It aims to encourage an exchange of ideas between members and lists stem cell research among its life science specialisms.
The group won the Scottish section of the Enterprising Britain 2007 Awards, which aims to find the most enterprising locations and schemes in the UK.
