Tourism industry to change dramatically

The tourism industry is set to change "dramatically" over the next five years, according to a new survey.
Nine out of ten business-travel buyers and suppliers, who were surveyed by the Travel Management Conference, said they think their roles will alter over the next five years, reports Travel Weekly.
In addition, 31 per cent think the market will be unrecognisable in the same time period, with 59 per cent expecting major changes.
Paul Wait, UK sales general manager for Virgin Atlantic, told the website: "People talk about change, but are not doing it. Instead, we see attempts to control the marketplace. Established ways of doing business are fiercely defended."
Of the issues which people feel will alter the industry, some 11 per cent said environmental factors would be the biggest differential, with the majority thinking distribution was the area with the greatest need for change.
It was recently announced that over 100 jobs will be created in Liverpool's hotels, as tourism booms in its year as capital of culture.
