IT positions in Europe are more highly paid than those in the US, according to the latest poll.
Conducted by Mercer, the Pay Around the World survey named the UK as one of the nations paying IT professionals hefty sums, along with other European countries such as Belgium, Denmark and Switzerland.
However, IT workforce specialist in Mercers Chicago office David Van De Voort commented high level positions are more likely to exist in the countries that topped the poll, with low-level work being outsourced to cheaper workforces.
"The jobs that remain in Western Europe and the US may be fewer in number but are more demanding and complex roles like vendor relationship manager, internal consultant and IT business partner," he said.
A principal in Mercers London office David Conroy remarked that companies in the US and Europe must create exciting remuneration packages in order to keep attracting the best talent.
In other pay-related news, the gap between private and public sector pay is set to widen next year, a study by Income Data Services has found.
