Tech park creates jobs
14/10/2008(15:25)

Thousands of jobs in technology look set to be created after three firms have agreed to cooperate in the expansion of a science park, it has been reported.

According to the Northern Echo, the major milestone will create employment opportunities at the North East Technology Park (NETPark).

Durham University has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Country Durham Development Company and The Centre for Process Innovation to bring the project forward.

The report suggests that up to 10,000 jobs will be created at the £9.5 million centre, which will be the Centre's UK headquarters.

NETPark scientific director Professor John Anstee told the newspaper: "We have the opportunity here to grow a major research site, which should allow these technologies to spin out and create manufacturing companies that utilise the technology."

In other jobs news, Career Engineer reports that the Welsh Design Commission is calling for more architect jobs in order to help the nation's green homes schemes.
