New construction project approved in Southwark

A new residential complex has been approved to be built on the south bank of the Thames.
Ian Simpson Architect's plans for the new Chambers Wharf has been approved by Southwark council and may lead to the creation of a large number of construction jobs created, reports skyscrapernews.com.
The new development from the St Martins Property Corporation will compromise of six buildings with 593 apartments, rising up to a maximum of 14 floors in height.
"Modest is the main aim of the design. There's nothing bling going on but rather a grouping of medium scaled apartment blocks with glass reflective curtain glazing," explained the developers.
The four-acre site is one of the last undeveloped warehouse sites in central London.
According to the website, a new skyscraper designed by Foster and Partners has been proposed to be constructed in London's docklands close to Canary Wharf.
