04/04/2008(16:20)

One organisation is holding jobs session to help people from minority backgrounds find employment.

The Compact for Race Equality in South Tyneside (Crest) is holding sessions for black, minority and ethnic communities, with employers giving talks on their recruitment processes, reports the Shields Gazette.

Specific companies will speak about the recruitment process and skills which they require, in addition to talking about their firms.

An employment initiative coordinator for Crest, Shadu Ali, told the newspaper: "I believe this is an excellent opportunity for employers to engage with people from Black Minority and Ethnic Communities, as well as for people from these communities to experience seeking employment, training or education."

The sessions will include three events across ten days with employers from the local police, fire service and council.

Young people, men and women alike are being welcomed to attend the events, which run on April 9th, 10th and 17th.

Crest says it focuses on changing the attitude, styles and policies of public sector employees in the South Tyneside area.
