Barclays takes on bankers
09/10/2008(16:00)

One bank is going against the trend by boosting its workforce number, it has been reported.

Barclays is to create 240 new jobs in Liverpool over the course of the next ten months, according to the Liverpool Daily Post.

The report explains the bank will take 24 account consultants a month and the jobs will be based at Barclays' site on Wavertree Technology Park where it is launching the second of its UK Proactive Telephony Centres.

According to the publication: "The announcement by Barclays sends a clear message about the company's confidence in planning for a brighter future."

It adds the news is a great advert for the city of Liverpool as it is Barclays' second expansion on Merseyside in recent months following the relocation of its commercial banking team to Chapel Street.

Barclays Bank was founded in 1690 and provides major financial services in Europe, North America, the Middle East, Latin America, Australia, Asia and Africa.
