Hundreds of jobs for Burnley?
10/10/2008(15:49)

A proposed development could create hundreds of jobs in Lancaster, it has been reported.

Plans for the new Burnley Bridge Business Park have the potential to create more than one thousand new jobs, according to the Burnley and Pendle Citizen.

Leeds-based developer Eshton has unveiled plans for the former Hepworth site on Pollard Moor.

The report notes the firm's officials forecast that despite the credit crunch up to 1,368 industrial and distribution positions will be created as well as more than 250 office posts and 20 jobs in a nearby hotel.

A spokesman for the company told the publication: "The site is adjacent to the M65, which makes it an ideal location for most business uses. However to gain access vehicles currently have to travel through Hapton or Padiham."

Meanwhile, it was reported by the Liverpool Daily Post this week that Barclays Bank is set to create 240 new jobs on Merseyside over the course of the next ten months.
