London shopping centre creates 7,000 jobs

A new £1.6 billion shopping centre in London is looking to recruit more than 7,000 staff before it opens in October.

According to the Mirror, White City's Westfield shopping centre has launched a recruitment drive for retail staff, with positions available both in management and on the shop floor.

Maintenance staff, including painters, decorators and cleaners, are also needed.

The new centre will house Debenhams, House of Fraser, Waitrose, Marks & Spencer, Next and 265 other stores as well as a spa, 14-screen cinema and around 50 restaurants.

Marks & Spencer has said it is looking to recruit department managers and full and part-time customer assistants.

Meanwhile, Dunelm Mill has announced it is to create 80 new jobs when it opens a new store in Bridgend, South Wales.

According to the Western Mail, the home furnishings firm is leasing a 40,000 square feet superstore at the Waterton Cross Retail Park.
