'Legal employees are nation's happiest'
03/06/2008(16:54)

Employees working in the legal sector are the happiest in the country, a survey has found.

In a poll of over 1,300 office workers from 11 sectors by recruitment agency Badenoch & Clark, 84 per cent of legal staff gave three out of five or more for happiness - a figure ten per cent higher than the average, the Lawyer reports.

The percentage of lawyers who are happy with their work is also six per cent greater than last year.

Badenoch & Clark executive director Alison Burgin told the news provider: "Too often firms are painted as workhouses where long hours rule and employee engagement is an endangered concept.

"What these figures show is that despite the stereotypes, legal professionals are generally happy in their work."

Meanwhile, accountancy firm Deloitte found recently that 90 per cent of firms - particularly smaller organisations - have difficulties with recruiting talented employees and has advised firms to implement a recruitment strategy to help attract more staff with the appropriate abilities into the industry.
