Simmons & Simmons 'to expand City group'
03/09/2008(11:16)

A City legal firm has announced that it is looking to grow its International Practise Group (IPG) in London.

Simmons & Simmons are still looking to recruit despite the current economic slump that exists across the nation.

Mark Curtis, the firm's incoming global corporate chief, told thelawyer.com that there remains room for "significant growth" in its IPG structure.

He also outlined future recruitment plans, adding that Simmons & Simmons will "continue" to look for lateral hires.

"We've recruited quite successfully at senior associate level," said Mr Curtis.

"We've also recruited people who were partners at their previous firm."

Currently, all ten of the firm's IPG heads are based in the City.

Ray Barrowdale from the Institute of Legal Executives has said that larger cities, such as London, Birmingham and Leeds, "probably" have more job opportunities for legal secretaries.
