Sheffield 'holds creative vacancies'
16/10/2008(16:00)

New research suggests as many as 50 jobs could be available in Sheffield's hi-tech creative and digital industries, it has been reported.

Analyst Creativesheffield has revealed a great number of unfilled vacancies in the sector, according to the Sheffield Star.

The city development company claims that though many "high-fliers" may have been put off moving to the city from the south due to worries over career progression, this attitude could change if the extent of opportunities in the city's creative and digital sectors was clearer.

"Most of the companies in the sector are saying they could be doing twice as much work if they had the people," Ian Bromley, a spokesman for the firm told the publication.

He added that the city must ask itself how it can band together all the opportunities to make the vacancies more appealing.

Creativesheffield claims to be the UK's first city-development agency, which is charged with taking the city to the next level.
