Factory jobs expansion pleases locals
01/04/2008(15:58)

The expansion of staff in a factory in Ulverston has been welcomed by the local people.

Residents in the local area who have recently been hit by job losses in GlaxoSmithKline's factory have welcomed the news that Tritech plans to expand its staff, reports the North West Evening Mail.

The firm, which specialises in underwater equipment, is looking to recruit production assemblers to work in the facility.

In addition, it is looking to fill positions in the accounts department, as well as a quality engineer and a quality control inspector.

Richard March, director of the Tritech Group, told the newspaper: "We employ around 60 people at the moment. The aim is to double the size of the company in the next five years."

"We will be taking on skilled people and hopefully offering training opportunities too," he added.

Stuart Klosinski, director of industrial development at Furness Enterprise, said the jobs were "very welcome" following the Glaxo news.

In related news, a factory is opening in Port Talbot which could create 500 new jobs and boost the local economy.
