Temping in a job like office work is an ideal way to gain experience when seeking work, according to an industry expert.
Engaging in temporary work allows people to "update" their skills and the current market is "very strong", according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).
Tom Hadley, director of external relations at the REC, said that while it may not be someone's long-term prospects, it is "certainly a starting option".
"The temp market is actually very strong at the moment. It helps you to get into a workplace and this can sometimes lead to permanent employment," he added.
It may also be a good idea to temp with a small business as they are likely to have more vacancies as they grow.
A survey by the Recruitment Industry showed that demand for temporary workers was much higher in March
The REC is the trade body which supports and represents the recruitment industry.
