A contract to build three schools in the north-east of England has secured as many as 75 jobs, according to a source.
GB Building Solutions has taken on the £15.5 million scheme, which is located in Blyth, reports the Newcastle Journal.
The agreement is reported to be a possible positive factor in the construction firm's hope to secure jobs in the area.
As part of the deal a five-year framework has been agreed, with the companys regional director Andy Hall stating the firm's ability to commit to several jobs at once is key during the credit crunch.
He told the newspaper the construction industry as a whole has "suffered as a result of the current economic gloom".
Mr Hall added: "However, we have been able to protect ourselves from most of it by having a variety of projects on the go at once."
Elsewhere, the government has claimed workers in the north-east are "well placed for offshore jobs", a sector which could create as many as 22,500 positions, reports the Newcastle Journal.
