Tesco to create 350 jobs
01/10/2008(16:14)
A supermarket giant has announced it is to create hundreds of jobs across Northern Ireland this year, it has been reported.
Tesco unveiled plans to take on more than 350 new members of staff in the country before 2009, according to the BBC News.
Some of the jobs will be based in Ballymena where the organisation opens a new store this month, the report explains.
It continued: "The company also unveiled expansion plans for its store at Knocknagoney in east Belfast, which is expected to be in business by the end of the year."
The supermarket made the announcement on the same day as it reported a "steady rise" in half-year profits despite the tough retailing environment.
Meanwhile, it was reported by the Independent yesterday (September 30th) that Tesco plans to offer mortgages and current accounts.
The firm claims the banking crisis has helped pave the way for it to enter the market.
