Awards by the British Computer Society (BCS) are set to recognise excellence within the IT industry.
Covering the three areas of organisation excellence, project excellence and individual excellence the awards will be judged and granted by expert practitioners from their respective fields, the BCS has said.
More than 200 entrants have been received for this year's BCS IT Industry Awards 2007, reports Computer Weekly.
Organisational rewards will recognise an IT department's impact on the performance of a firm, the innovative technologies used and the effectiveness of the teamwork involved in such work, the group explained.
Projects by IT companies demonstrating novel approaches to systems and applications that provide future benefits and enhances the reputation of the computer software industry will also be commended, BCS noted.
"We have always looked for innovation because that is what keeps the profession alive, what enables organisations to grow," Keith Taylor, section moderator and fellow of the BCS, told the news source.
This year's event marks the 50th anniversary of the society, which supports the IT industry in both the UK and Europe.
