A new survey has found the ten per cent of IT workers are not getting paid for working overtime.
The study by recruitment website theitjobboard.com, which questioned 500 workers in the IT industry, found that only one in ten got paid extra money for the overtime which they worked.
Personnel Today reports that 27 per cent of respondents work between 48 and 60 hours a week, with five per cent working between 60 and 75 hours.
It also found that only 15 per cent of employees had spoken about the issue of increased working hours with their manager.
Alex Farrell, managing director of the theitjobboard.com, told the website that the UK culture of long working hours "needs to be addressed".
"Employers need to take some responsibility for the impact that overwork can have on their employees' health," he added.
A recent study by Harvey Nash found that 72 per cent of IT leaders were "actively seeking" a new job, with 63 per cent also expected to move roles within two years, ITpro.co.uk reported.
