Government 'to provide 500 jobs'

The civil service will provide 500 graduate jobs in 2009 across the main government departments, it has been reported.
According to the Times, the vacancies will be spread out among the Diplomatic Service, the Houses of Parliament, the Government Economic Service and the Government Statistical Service.
The report states that those on a fast-track programme can expect a series of intensive postings designed to prepare the m for senior managerial positions.
Writing in the Times, commentator Martin Burchill says the government has 173 agencies and departments nationwide.
"The minimum entry requirement is a 2.2 degree and applications for 2009 programmes close on either October 31 or November 30, depending on job function," he explains.
Meanwhile, in other UK job news it was reported by the York Press that a new business park in Yorkshire is set to create 1,000 jobs.
The report states the recently completed Scarborough Business Park will provide an employment boost to the surrounding areas.
