Argos creates Xmas jobs
02/10/2008(15:33)

Thousands of retail jobs will be created as one firm has announced its Christmas recruitment drive, it has been reported.

Argos will boost its force by 15,000 to deal with the seasonal surge in demand at its stores, according to Personneltoday.com.

The firm made the announcement in a statement which it highlighted its aim to boost its workforce with a number of roles in its distribution and call centre operations.

Andrew Bush, the firm's human resources director, told the publication some people choose temporary work because it suits their lifestyle and others find it can kick start their careers.

"We retain a high percentage of temporary staff throughout their contract. We also retain a large proportion of temporary employees long after Christmas and we have more than 1,000 who have returned to us each year for the past few years," he added.

The retail giant was founded in 1973 and claims to have more than 680 stores nationwide.
