Derbyshire to receive jobs boost
04/01/2008(15:16)

A new £80 million industrial estate could potentially create hundreds of jobs in the South Derbyshire area.

The proposals put forward by Landform Development include the development of a 41-hectare site opposite a Toyota factory at Burnaston, the Derby Telegraph reports.

According to the newspaper, up to 1,500 jobs could be created when the warehouses and offices are completed on the site.

TNT Post is believed to be interested in operating from the site, according to Alistair Watson, managing director of Landform Development.

"We think it will be a coup for south Derbyshire to have an international name like that based here," he claimed.

The firm states that the site could be used for strategic high-bay warehousing and industrial spaces, accommodating a variety of large unit sizes.

Additionally, the site could have a rail-head connection to provide the area with a "major regional multi-modal distribution facility".
