3PAR has announced that it will be creating 80 jobs through its new research and development centre in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
It is reported that 80 new software development positions within the company will be filled by 2010, while it is also searching for additional employees for the centre's engineering team.
Investing more than £9 million in the facility, 3SPAR has also received financial support from Invest Northern Ireland and the backing of economy minister Nigel Dodds.
Mr Dodds has claimed that the Silicon Valley company's decision to base its research and development centre in Belfast reflects the success of Northern Ireland's business relationships with the US.
The presence of skilled graduates and experienced software engineers contributed to 3PAR's decision on the move, the company's president David Scott said.
"We are thrilled to be able to position critical engineering resources closer to our European customers," he added.
An organisation's total cost of data can be cut by 50 per cent through the use of 3PAR Utility Storage, the company claims.
