A warehouse complex planned to be built on the edge of Peterborough could create 5,400 new jobs.
The proposals for the seven warehouses on an area the size of 135 football pitches also include plans for a new rail freight interchange, reports the Evening Telegraph.
Gazeley which is the logistics company behind the plans, will begin consultation with residents about the park this week.
A local politician, Brian Rush, has said the plans will cause uproar amongst residents, who live in the neighbouring village of Stanground.
Fellow councillor Marco Cereste told the newspaper that the perception of warehouse jobs being lowly paid was untrue, saying: "They can be highly skilled and highly paid".
Shailesh Vara, the MP for north west Cambridgeshire, said: "Jobs are always welcome but it is important that they fit in with the local community."
He added that full consultation of the local community would have to occur before plans could be approved.
Amazon has recently opened its new 800,000 sq ft logistics centre in South Wales.
