Support and guidance for people dreaming of a legal career

There is a lot of support for people who wish to become a solicitor, according to the president of The Law Society.
Paul Marsh has said that although it may look "tough on paper" to reach the goal of being a solicitor, there are a range of organisations, including his own, which can offer support and guidance.
He added there are several routes and opportunities to help people "develop skills" and enhance their "knowledge of the law".
Mr Marsh outlined a new scheme by the Junior Lawyers Division of the Law Society which helps partner young qualified solicitors with a more experienced mentor.
"The job of a solicitor is a rewarding and enjoyable one. It can be varied and there are many areas to specialise in once you are qualified," he added.
"Training to become a solicitor, however, takes considerable commitment, whichever route to qualifying you take, but if it is what you want to do, the hard work will be worth it."
The UK Graduates Careers Survey of 2008 found that law was the ninth most popular career destination for graduates, with investment banking ranking first on the list.
