Garden centre 'to create new jobs'

A new environmentally-friendly garden centre could create as many as 140 jobs, according to a source.
The proposed Fulford complex is an extension of the Dobbies Garden Centre franchise, reports the Press.
Plans for the scheme see the centre covering 12.5-acres, with a food hall, restaurant and indoor garden area within the 56,000 sq ft building.
Andrew Waller, City of York council leader, told the news provider the announcement comes at a time when people are "worried about employment".
He added: "With the loss of other jobs, such as at the confectionary factories, any jobs being brought to the city would certainly ease that concern."
Planners will consider a proposal for the centre later this month, the source concludes.
Elsewhere, Yorkshire clothing firm Greenwoods Menswear is set to benefit from 600 new jobs after investment from a major Chinese group, with as many as 100 new stores set to open, reports the Yorkshire Evening Post.
