A large catering company is set to boost its HR team in a bid to tackle the effects of the economic downturn.
Online news resource Personnel Today reports that Elior, which currently employs approximately 12,000 individuals in the UK, is increasing its HR team by about a third.
The new positions, which include three full-time members of staff and one part-timer, will begin to be filled next month.
Speaking to the news provider HR director of the firm Paul Reynolds said: "Long term, the worst thing a company can do is start taking out HR [jobs] because of the recession.
"The message it sends to the business at large if they move HR is that the business is not interested in its people."
He added that an increased HR team will help staff feel more engaged at a time when they are seeing their living costs rise.
In related news, Anthony Pierce, HR director of Hudson recently told HRZone.co.uk that increasing numbers of men are applying for jobs in the HR sector, which has previously been dominated by women.
