Lawyers around Europe united on Sunday for Exeter Legal Sunday, stopping traffic for a century old tradition.
The celebration of the legal industry sees the city's profession marching along a route in full dress robes, reports ThisisExeter.co.uk.
Included in the celebrations lawyers from Poland, Belgium, Germany, the Netherlands, France, Spain and Italy were entertained for four days amid talks about the justice system.
Sir Robert Owen, an Exeter graduate and honorary graduate, told the website the annual event is always looked forwared to be him.
"Every level of the legal profession gets to come into contact with each other, which is valuable. I think Exeter's service is one of the most enjoyable," he said.
Many other areas have similar parades, but on a smaller scale to Exeter's.
Other people involved in the procession included the dean of Exeter cathedral, the Very Rev Jonathan Meyrick, who held the service, which marked the start of the high court judges time in the city's crown court.
It was recently found that law firms in the UK have been advised to implement a recruitment strategy to attract more talented staff into the industry, according to research by Deloitte.
