Nurses and doctors in the NHS have reported that they are receiving better training and have higher levels of job satisfaction.
An annual survey by the Healthcare Commission shows that improvements have been reported in managerial support and 94 per cent of staff have said they have more access to career development, reports Personnel Today.
In addition, three per cent more staff are receiving appraisals and four per cent more have a personal development plan.
Ann Keen, the health minister, told the magazine: "I know from past experience as a nurse that working in the NHS is demanding but immensely rewarding, and it is encouraging that in its 60th year, most staff continue to report high job satisfaction."
The majority of staff are now taking advantage of flexible working, with more feeling they are achieving a better work-life balance.
It was reported yesterday that a study found most nurses need more training on the job after qualifying.
