Construction jobs 'could be created in industrial park extension'

A number of construction jobs could be created in Ryedale if the council accepts a planning application to extend a local industrial estate.
Woodhouse Barry has lodged plans to build a new extension on Sheriff Hutton's Industrial Estate, which the Gazette Herald reports could result in up to nine new industrial units being constructed.
Local architect Judy Walkland, who helped design the plans, told the newspaper the new proposed units would be built in three separate blocks.
She added that the planning committee had agreed "in principle" to the proposal but is now being considered "for reserve matters".
"The units will provide an opportunity for a range of businesses to occupy premises on the estate and for further employment for local people," added Ms Walkland.
According to contractjournal.com, a new health card developed by the Constructing Better Health organisation could be introduced, which would limit employees to only undertaking jobs they had been cleared for.
