A new study has revealed that one in five workers in the UK are annoyed with their current job.
Management consultancy Hay Group surveyed over one million workers and found that 20 per cent of respondents admitted to being "frustrated" at work.
Issues such as ineffective structures, poor management handling and the lack of productive working environments were cited as reasons for irritation among employees.
Some 40 per cent of respondents said that line managers actually created "de-motivating environment" in the workplace.
Ben Hubbard, regional director of Hay Group's employee survey division, said that companies are "wasting" talent if they do not back them with a supportive environment.
"Employers must act to remove procedural barriers and unnecessary bureaucracy, and provide employees with the tools, technology, information, support and other resources they need to be effective in their jobs," he added.
Recent research by human resources provider Ceridian found that only 19 per cent of people under the age of 34 would "feel comfortable" asking for a pay rise at work, Online Recruitment reported.
