Medical industry 'needs to allow more women in'

The medical industry needs to be changed to allow more women into the higher-paid positions, according to an industry body.
A concentration of men in the top jobs has been recognised by the Trade Union Congress (TUC), with the body saying both genders are "not competing on a level playing field".
Sarah Veal, head of equality and employment rights at the TUC, said: "The longer the system goes on having men in the higher up positions and managing entry and promotion, the more that will go on
not changing to let more women in at more senior levels."
The expert added that more women are "bunched up" lower down the system, predicting there are now more women GPs as it is a more flexible job and people have the ability to work part-time.
A recent National Statistic report found women are likely to earn £330,000 less over their lifetime, compared to men.
