Scores of jobs could be created by a Welsh company that is making sensors to monitor energy use, it has been reported.

Bangor firm DeepStream Technologies is set to double its workforce from 80 to 150 over the course of the next two years, according to BBC News.

The report notes the organisation has developed a three-dimensional electrical circuit which could be applied to existing switches.

Mark Crosier, the firm's chief executive, told the broadcaster the Welsh Assembly has supported the company from the beginning and its financial assistance has made the progress possible.

"These announcements are part of the ambitious growth plans we have for the next couple of years and demonstrate our intention to establish ourselves as a successful high-tech manufacturing firm and a major employer in the north Wales region," he added.

In a statement released ahead of the launch, which will be officially opened by Welsh first minister Isuan Wyn Jones, the organisation said it was delighted to be opening the facility.

Meanwhile, Climate minister Ed Miliband claims the green energy push in the UK could create a number of new jobs.
