07/08/2008(14:25)

Construction has started on a new luxury hotel resort in Cornwall.

The £30 million Cornwall Hotel Spa project to develop a Grade II listed building and surrounding grounds could create up to 480 new jobs in the future, thisiscornwall.co.uk reports.

On the site a 66-bedroom hotel with spa, leisure and restaurant facilities will be constructed, together with 60 luxury lodges across 43 acres of land attached to the building.

The development is being managed by CMR Leisure and is set to bring 280 construction jobs, along with 200 hotel jobs when the complex opens.

Richard Whitehouse, spokesman for CML Leisure, told the news site that the Cornwall Hotel Spa is an "exciting project".

"We have ensured that our development plans will respect and sensitively complement the outstanding flora, fauna and setting of the estate and the integrity of its buildings," he added.

Hotel chain Travelodge recently revealed it was looking to fill job vacancies at its new development in Glasgow, which is scheduled to open August 22nd, the Evening Times reported.
