Up to 15,000 jobs could be created as part of a planned project for a bypass in north-east Scotland, according to a new report.
The Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route is estimated to cost between £295 and £395 million and is currently under planning consideration, reports the Press and Journal.
A study into the project, which was conducted by Scottish Transport guidance, found that 14,220 jobs would be created and forecast that an additional £6 million would enter the regional economy over a 30-year period.
The newspaper reports that the study said: "The benefits will be felt across north-east Scotland as a whole as the scheme will provide better connections between housing and employment and will also improve freight movements to and from towns to the north and west of Scotland."
Over 750 jobs were recently saved at Spirit Europe in Ayrshire after it secured two new contracts to produce parts for various Airbus models in deals worth almost £2 billion.
