Amazon says logistics jobs will go to local people

Amazon has denied claims that it will employ mainly Polish workers to fill the 1,200 jobs in its new Jersey based distribution centre.
The South Wales Evening Post had previously reported that most of the posts had already been filled by East Europeans.
But the retailer said it would be using JobCentre Plus, local agencies and its own website to fill the positions, which will be created in the next five years.
Gordon Andrews, the economic development boss from the local council, said: "They are still very much committed to recruiting local people, and working with organisations such as JobCentre Plus to ensure there are as many opportunities for local people as possible."
The new centre is in an 800,000 sq ft complex with a new road network being created to cater for it.
A statement from Amazon said: "We
will undertake regular recruitment drives in the local area, and recruit via the careers section on the Amazon.co.uk website, to fill these positions."
