Jobseekers 'should prove workplace achievements on CV'
01/07/2008(16:15)

A new survey has found that many CVs are failing to prove workplace achievements, which is preventing people from getting employment.

In a new poll by iProfile.org, 73 per cent of employers revealed that a vague CV with no "evidence of past accomplishments" has led to them rejecting candidates.

Online Recruitment reports that over half of respondents said that a candidate who sells their achievement successfully "may be able to demand" a five per cent higher salary.

The study found that many CVs only list general duties as opposed to any personal achievements.

Karl Gregory, CV specialist for iProfile.org, told the website: "Addressing this issue could significantly boost people's chances of getting through to the interview stage, as well as getting the salary they deserve."

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation recently warned jobseekers that a good recruiter "will check a CV thoroughly" and that lying on an application could have "very serious consequences".
