'75% of IT professionals would recommend career to children'

Three-quarters of IT professionals would recommend a career in the industry to their children, a survey has revealed.
Undertaken by recruitment firm The IT Job Board, the research also found that despite the economic slowdown, 69 per cent of respondents believe the position of their company in the market to be either "somewhat secure" or "very secure".
In addition, 70 per cent of professionals questioned said they are expecting a pay rise in the next year.
Alex Farrell, managing director of the IT Job Board, said: "The over-riding conclusion of the research is that the IT sector is perceived to be a rewarding industry in which to work.
"Despite the currently gloomy predictions, the IT sector also appears to be holding up well to the newly-tough economic climate."
The research follows calls by Jan Peters, women's forum manager for the British Computer Society, for female IT professionals to act as role models to encourage more women to enter the industry.
