Olympics 'boosts sports jobs'
07/10/2008(16:02)

The 2012 Olympic Games is boosting demand for jobs in the sports sector, it is claimed.

A study by Sport Recruitment International (SRI) suggests the prospect of London hosting the Games is helping the industry.

The report states there has been an increase in demand for jobs, with some workers taking pay cuts to enter the sector.

Amy Johnson, of SRI, states interest in sporting jobs has "increased at all levels".

The study claims: "Sport has moved closer to the top of the agenda and there has been a dramatic shift in attitudes towards recruitment by the national governing bodies."

According to the research, chief executives in the industry can earn between £50,000 and £150,000, while performance directors may have a salary ranging from £40,000 to £300,000.

London will host the Olympics in 2012, from July 27th to August 12th, while the Paralympic Games run from August 29th until September 9th.
