30/06/2008(16:49)

Hundreds of jobs are to be created in Surrey and Scotland by an Indian outsourcing firm.

According to ZDNet, TCS is to open two development centres in Redhill, Surrey and Stirling in Scotland that will employ 350 people.

The new posts, which will see the company's total UK workforce rise to 5,000, will develop applications for a large insurance firm and other TCS customers.

"We already have a strong presence and are continuing to grow our capabilities to serve our customers," remarked As Lakshmi, head of UK and Ireland at the company, which also has a large innovation centre in Peterborough.

The news follows the announcement that IT company McKesson is to create more than 300 posts over the next three years at its operations centre in Bangor.

US-based McKesson, which employees 30,000 people across the world, is to deliver a new integrated human resources and payroll system to the NHS.
