Brighton Eye 'could create 100 jobs'

Some 100 tourism-based jobs are expected to be created in Brighton if plans for the "Brighton Eye" go ahead, it has been reported.
The tower, known as the i360 and designed by the architects of the London Eye, is set to attract 500,000 visitors per year and boost the local economy by 10 million, according to the Argus.
However, the West Pier Trust, which owns the site, is awaiting approval from the government to start working on the 172-metre structure later this year.
Geoff Lockwood, chief executive of the trust, said: "I remain confident that a decision is imminent."
He added that the Noble Organisation, which runs the Palace Pier, should not be concerned that the new attraction would affect its profits as the council and independent consultants have agreed the i360 will not "take any of its share of the leisure pound".
Husband and wife team David Marks and Julia Barfield have designed the i360 to be able to carry up to 100 visitors at a time.
