Creative people 'need to showcase their talent'
29/08/2008(11:38)

Workers in the creative industries need to showcase their talent "to the wider world", according to an industry expert.

Rich Wilson, managing director of creative publishing network zoo qoo, said that people need to find unconventional ways of "being discovered", together with a new method of getting feedback and comments from experts in the field.

Speaking about his network's ability to help those in the industry to show their work to a wider audience, he said that it works like a "talent showcase".

"We want to bridge the gap between that [people with talent who are just starting out] and the industry," added Mr Wilson.

"Sites like MySpace are specifically for social networking, linking people so they can chat to each other, this is a way linking people with talent with the right people in the industry."

A recent report by university think-tank Million+ said called for the creation of a new Arts, Humanities and Creative Industries Research Council to help develop graduates into the industry.
